Where it started
These Canby homeowners have had this property for 5 years and knew it was time to make some upgrades to transform it from just a house to their forever home. They wanted products that would last, were affordable, and would also transform the look of their home to something spectacular. They were ready to make the leap and started calling contractors.
Getting 3 Bids
When Matt at Elevate Exteriors first sat down with these homeowners, he was the third contractor to meet with them. They reviewed what they were looking for, discussed options, and talked about specifics in the project they wanted to make sure were covered. The project would focus on new siding and energy efficient windows. The customers had done a lot of research and were very interested in pre-finished siding by James Hardie called ColorPlus. While ColorPlus can be a challenge, Elevate Exteriors specializes in pre-finished siding and was ready for the challenge.
After reviewing the bids and trying to compare “apples to apples” – Elevate Exteriors was selected for the exterior remodel.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
A signed contract got the ball rolling but the next steps were just as crucial. Within 2 days, Elevate Exteriors was onsite to do a critical measure of the windows so there would be no mistakes in ordering. A full materials list was compiled so once the project was started, there wouldn’t be a bunch of unnecessary delays. Lead times were discussed, travel schedules (for the homeowners) were addressed, and a construction plan was put together.
Getting Started
Once a start date was agreed upon, delivery of materials was scheduled to accommodate the homeowner needs. A realistic expectation was set for how long each phase of the project would take. The construction plan that had been agreed upon with even minor issues being pointed out to everyone involved – in this case, the house was also home to some furry friends that had to be worked around. Schedules had to be followed, especially when opening the home to the outside world, like when windows were removed.
During The Project
The Pacific Northwest is notorious for the weather and the conditions that are quite simply, AWFUL for homes. This project came along with its own share of issues. During the demo and waterproofing process, Elevate Exteriors found multiple areas of rotten siding and even some rotten framing. The worst extent was multiple joists in the floor that had started to rot. Matt worked quickly with the installation team to assess the damage, put a repair plan together, and get it approved by the homeowners. The repairs were completed quickly to keep the project on schedule and once addressed, proper waterproofing was completed for the entire home. Without further delay, the next steps were to install the new vinyl windows, complete the siding replacement, and finish it off with new seamless aluminum gutters.
Final Results
When everything wrapped up, the transformation was staggering. This tired property became the nicest house on the block and the homeowners have peace of mind for years to come. The windows are more efficient, look nice, and operate smoothly. The brand new siding is beautiful, but was also installed to today’s stringent best practices. The forever home for this family was delivered and their exterior remodel dream has come to reality.
